Trustees, Advisers and Volunteers needed.

RSI Action is the national charity working to facilitate the prevention of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) conditions and for the relief of sickness, hardship and distress amongst those suffering with RSI conditions.

RSI Action is a young charity, registered five years ago, and has had an income in the region of £5k to £12k a year in recent years.  The incidence of RSI is escalating: it has been estimated that nearly five million working days are lost, in the UK, every year, due to RSI conditions. As many as one in three computer users may have early symptoms of RSI conditions, and increasing numbers of young people are reporting symptoms. RSI Action needs to take the next step in developing its ability to strategically meet the challenges that this escalation presents.

We urgently need to build our capacity at every level. We are looking for trustees, advisers and volunteers to enable us to reach out to more people with RSI, and help prevent the pain and injury of RSI conditions.

Trustees are needed with the following experience: clinical, PR, not-for-profit management, law, policy and campaigning etc. The commitment involved would include one day every two months for board meetings in London, one composite day a month (estimated) to contribute time and energy to other matters, plus attendance at occasional events.  If you feel you would like to contribute, but don’t have the time (or wish) to commit to being a trustee, please do consider how you might be able to offer advice or volunteer in other ways to help us.

Advisers: If you feel you could help by allowing us to call on your skills occasionally, perhaps attend an event, or speak at a conference please do consider becoming an Adviser. We would welcome Advisers with skills as mentioned above, and others you may feel are relevant.

Volunteers: As a charity with one part time member of staff we urgently need capacity to help write and produce our newsletter and other publications, help in communicating with supporters and people with RSI, perhaps running a facebook page or tweeting, attending conferences, speaking about RSI, and many other tasks.

If you would like to find out more please do get in touch by email : info@rsiaction.org.uk or phone 07982 999 715.

If you’d like to help please send a letter or email, detailing the experience or skills you’d like to offer and / or a CV by 28th October 2011.We’ll be getting in touch the following week.
