Hi There,
I have worked for a multi-national envelope manufacturer for 8 years, my job is packing envelopes into boxes manually, some of the orders have cardboard dividers put in them, since we started putting the dividers in the boxes I have been off work with swelling to the back of my hands, and swelling in the lower part of my arms near the wrists.
My doctors say I have R.S.I.
Yesterday I went to see a plastic surgeon, and he showed me my xrays, and told me I have Carpo Metacarpal Osteoarthritis, which I probably had for a number of years, but using the dividers has probably brought on the pain and swelling, as I have to use my thumb and index fingers to grip them.
My union lawyers are now looking into it for me, as I have lost about 4 months wages so far, and do not get paid when I am off,.
Also my company has not sent any R.I.D.D.O.R. reports to the H & S Executive regarding myself, or any other workers being of with back & arm pains, and hernia’s,u.l.d.’s, etc, etc.
Best Regards.
John.
